DO88 BigPack Porsche 911 Turbo (992)
D088-BIG-310-T
The complete intercooling solution for the Porsche 911 (992) Turbo / Turbo S
Bigpack - intercooler and intercooler pipes sold as a unit!
In addition to our intercooler kit, we also offer various other products for the Porsche 992. In this big pack, in addition to the intercoolers themselves, we also offer you our charge air pipes and silicone hoses for improved air flow that will last over time!
If you ask us, this is the best intercooler kit you can make for this platform. We have left no stone unturned in our search for maximum performance in every area of the system. The starting point is the cores from renowned Garrett Motorsport, which are incredibly well made with thin and stacked fins, exactly to our specification in balancing cooling and airflow. The end tanks are made from thin cast aluminum to keep weight down and utilize airflow. To accommodate the thicker core, we replace the air ducts with the best quality carbon fiber ducts! And to eliminate bottlenecks throughout the system, the intercooler connections are larger and come together with do88 silicone hoses that are designed with soft, gentle bends. We made no compromises in this development - check out the results!
Important numbers (compared to OE):
- Colder intake air temperature under the same conditions: 36°C / 96.8 F (48°C / 118.4 F). 12°C / (21.6 F) lower.
- More air for your engine, less back pressure and better airflow!
- Airflow at 0.125 bar / 1.81 psi pressure drop: 799 CFM (740 CFM), 8% higher!
- High-density, motorsport-grade Garrett Bar&Plate cores.
- 3D freeform designed cast end tanks.
- Custom carbon fiber air ducts.
- Meth jets on intercooler output tank (2x 1/8 NPT).
- Complete set of charge air pipes with powder-coated pipes, high-temperature silicone hoses and the highest quality hose clamps.
Background:
Previous versions of the Porsche 911 had their intercoolers in each rear fender, with a Y-pipe that unites the two before the charge air reaches the intake manifold. However, the 992 has a completely different configuration. The intercooler and Y-pipe are now combined into one unit that sits under the rear wing. The ambient air is directed via channels from the rear window into an opening on the trunk lid and then passed through the intercooler core for optimal heat transfer. This configuration really makes more sense from a design perspective, but is also more demanding for us as a manufacturer of high-performance cooling systems. In order to accommodate a core with greater volume and surface area, we had to develop new carbon fiber channels to allow for the increase in thickness. We are very proud to have taken our carbon fiber production to the next level with this product - the fit and finish is worthy of an icon like the 911!
Cores from Garrett:
The cores are Bar&Plate and are manufactured by the renowned Garrett Motorsport. They really are first class. Thin and stacked cooling fins result in a tight structure and very efficient heat transfer. The core is 105 mm (4 inches) in size and is as thick as possible for this application. Air is distributed throughout the core via free-form, cast end tanks. Designing these tanks was a significant undertaking that required 3D scanning, CFD analysis and 3D printing until we had a finished prototype. As usual, we chose cast end tanks as they allow for shapes that cannot be replicated by CNC machining. For us, function always comes before form. Maximum airflow takes priority over looks! The tanks are fitted with machined 70mm connections to enable high performance. To fit these larger connections, we also provide silicone tubing. Both cores are united by a central exhaust tank to the intake manifold, which uses machined ports and meth ports.
Carbon Ambient Air Ducts:
The air ducts are made of vacuum-infused, pre-impregnated carbon and all parts have mounting grooves for the air ducts, just like the OE parts. No matter how complex the shapes are, we guarantee the perfect fit! They come with suitable rubbers where needed to prevent the cooling air from flowing past the core.
Aluminum tubes:
The big pack also includes the do88 air pipes - a significant improvement that replaces the OE hoses. Constructed from 63mm (2.5”) mandrel-bend aluminum tubes, they are finished in a tasteful satin black powder coat finish, ensuring better airflow and sustainability over time. The pipes come with four silicone hoses, of which the exhaust hoses are made from a material with a continuous temperature of 240°C (464°F). The hose clamps in this position are of the "constant tension" type, meaning they will accommodate thermal expansions in the material.
Performance:
When it comes to performance, the do88 intercoolers significantly reduce intake temperature! The difference to the OE 992 units is shown in the graphic below the product images. Data was collected using an AIM race logger during 4 consecutive runs at a closed airfield. Full throttle accelerations between 50-250 km/h (30-155 mph) were performed in a Porsche 911 Turbo S (757 hp with updated software and exhaust). Hard braking, no cool down between runs, just full acceleration five times. The rear wing was in its upper position the entire time.
The test was carried out as follows:
First, 4 runs were carried out on the car with the OE 992 intercoolers. Stop, quick replacement of parts for the do88 intercoolers. Run in for a few minutes and then do five runs in exactly the same manner as with the OE parts. The drop in intake air temperature is significant, the maximum difference is 12°C (21.6 F).
Cooling is important and so is airflow. After many hours of development, refining the end tanks and selecting a core that meets our needs, the result is an intercooler that is much more efficient in terms of heat transfer and airflow. Our in-house flow test bench, the Super
